Client
Run by social media pro Emma Peries, Digital Mother offers training to SMEs and charities to help them successfully run the social media marketing on their Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn channels.
I met Emma at a Kingston Chamber of Commerce networking event and we clicked immediately. I approached her about help with getting more strategic with my own social media and on the same call she let me know she needed help with her website. We were both in the right place at the right time.
Brief
Emma had some DIY branding in place that she’d put together using Canva but had decided it was time to up her game for her business to have more impact and build greater credibility. As a one-woman brand, Emma also wanted Digital Mother’s visual identity to reflect her own personality more.
Creative
After taking a deep dive into Emma’s business values I moved onto the mood board stage and came up with some colour suggestions. The punchy pink gives the branding a bit more oomph and makes it pop.
With Emma’s background as a journalist/producer on one of the ITV morning shows (think Bridget Jones!), the photography style for her brand needed to be friendly and approachable. I refined the look and feel of her logo – bringing in those strong colours with a touch of neon and giving it a clear, modern feel with a hashtag as the focal point. There’s an energy to the new design that was missing before.
With the work Emma does, it was even more important than usual for the branding to look great on social media, so I looked at how it worked in that context before pulling everything together and building her Squarespace website. I also put together templates for social media and presentations so Emma can now easily create content she’s proud of that sits perfectly alongside the rest of her branding.
Impact
This project worked really well, and Emma felt that the branding I created really reflected where she wanted to be with Digital Mother and how she wanted to be seen as a personal brand as much as a business.
