“We’ve worked together before on client projects, so I already knew how creative and reliable she is but working with her on my own rebrand was a different kind of experience.
I was fairly nervous going into the process and had been delaying it for a while. Rebranding something you’ve built over the years is a big deal, especially when you are so close to the business. It can feel overwhelming and emotional. But Claire really understood where I was coming from and supported me through every step of the journey.”
Client
Annie Browne founded Hello My PA in 2015. Over the last ten years the business has grown to take on staff and evolved in its approach to clients, becoming more holistic to offer widened business services. With this evolution, Annie felt that her business had outgrown its branding and so wanted to develop the visual identity alongside the name change to Hello Business Support.
Annie and I met through Freelance Heroes and have collaborated on projects for her clients over the years.
Brief
Annie chose my Elevate package which included: full visual identity, Canva templates for social media, a PowerPoint template, social media homepage graphics and a design for a website homepage to provide her website designer guidance to ensure consistency across the brand’s online presence.
Annie wanted to invest in her branding to achieve something punchy and bold that would help her take the steps needed to level up with her renamed business. This project was a complete rebrand, but it was also important to retain some of the original essence to demonstrate the evolution the business had moved through.
The new brand mission – empowering entrepreneurs so businesses can thrive – was central to the brief. The new design needed to be holistic and have this sense of client wellbeing at its centre to reflect the approach Annie and her team take to their work. There was an important balance to be struck between the branding being personable and fun and displaying a professional tone that demonstrated the expertise behind the brand. Above all else, Annie wanted to avoid the brand looking corporate.
Creative
I started the project by spending time going really deep to understand what the business stands for and how Annie wanted the newest iteration to be represented. We discussed ideas and used mood boards to gain direction on the look and feel of the new visual identity for Hello Business Support.
For the final creative, I used a warm colour palette which reflects the orange and green used in the original branding whilst making those colours richer and stronger. I also added complementary colours to allow for a variety of tones in future designs.
The new logo is clean and crisp but bold. It emphasises the word ‘hello’ as the common thread between the original and new brand names and the addition of the smile provides a friendly touch. The typography uses a striking combination of Plume for headings to add a flourish of style alongside the sans serif Poppins for a balancing element of sharpness.
The Hygge philosophy resonates strongly with Annie and the service approach she takes with clients, so I added touches to suggest a homely feel, including a wooden texture. Alongside the rich colours these elements make the visual branding feel very comfortable. We increased the personality behind the identity with delicately drawn fine line icons.
The entire project involved a balancing act to achieve a comforting, welcoming feeling whilst retaining the sense of professionalism and expertise Annie’s clients expect.
Impact
The finished design looks both wholesome and professional, incorporating the right amount of personality whilst still achieving the balance with displaying expertise. Annie and her team are equipped with a suite of resources and templates to produce their own online graphics, and the new website is now live.
“Claire created a visual identity for Hello Business Support that truly reflects where the business is now and where we want to be in the future. The balance between professional and approachable was important for me and Claire did a great job.
If you’re considering a rebrand and want to work with someone who listens, guides, and brings your vision to life, I’d absolutely recommend working with Claire.”
